The performance venue, the Steinway Piano Exhibition Center in Nanjing, was transformed from the former site of Jinling Union Theological Seminary. The concert hall, originating from a church, imparted a unique classical and elegant artistic atmosphere to the showcase.

At 14:30 on the afternoon of May 23rd, the host announced the official opening of the Sindora Cup Silver-Aged Pianists Exchange and Showcase Charity Event Final. The judges for this final were Professor Sun Shuren, a retired piano professor from Nanjing University of the Arts and a member of the Jiangsu Musicians Association, and Professor Li Xiqin, former associate professor and party branch secretary of the Department of Music at Jiangsu Education College, also a member of the Jiangsu Musicians Association.

Mr. Gu Terei, Senior Vice President of Keppel China's Senior Care Business and Head of Operations at Sindora, attended the event and kicked off the proceedings with a solo performance to cheer on the contestants.

He stated that music always brings people closer together. Sindora has worked tirelessly to create a platform for public art learning, exchange, and showcase, dedicated to providing a musical oasis for the senior community. It aims to help every elder break through the limits of age, to learn, feel, and love. This is Sindora's brand vision and the very essence of today's exchange and showcase event. Sindora not only helps seniors heal both physically and mentally but also ignites their passion for life and pursuit of dreams. It empowers the elderly in Nanjing to fulfill their desires and enjoy a fulfilling and beautiful later life.

Mr. Ling Qing, a piano volunteer from Nanjing Mingji Hospital, picked up the piano that had been left behind by his son when he was young just before his retirement. What started as a way to find some enjoyment in his retirement turned into an uninterrupted 8 years of learning. Ling Qing, who originally began learning for fun, found himself falling deeper in love with the piano. He chose Bach’s Prelude in C Major for the final and ultimately won third place. He said:

I am grateful to the composer Bach, for it is his piece that touched me deeply, allowing me to experience the charm of music and the power of passion.

Mr. Gu Terei presented Mr. Ling Qing with the third-place certificate.

Like most of the contestants, Ms. Qian Jing, who had more free time after retirement, began to learn the piano. Although she had not been playing for long, she became deeply captivated by the emotions and charm that music brought her. She, who won second place in this event, said:

I'm very happy to be able to exchange with everyone. The oldest participant in this competition is already 74 years old, and everyone's performance was truly impressive. Not only are they excellent pianists, but they also volunteer at hospitals, using music to heal more people. They are all role models for self-learning.

Mr. Gu Terei presented Ms. Qian Jing with the second-place certificate.

In the eyes of the first-place winner, Ms. Tong Aiping, a piano volunteer at Nanjing Gulou Hospital, as long as one strives for a career they love or a hobby they are passionate about, there is no age too late to pursue it. At 74 years old this year, she has been a piano volunteer at Gulou Hospital for many years.

Being a piano volunteer at Gulou Hospital has brought great comfort to my heart. Many people stop by our piano to enjoy the peace that music brings to their souls. Music is our passion and also the greatest comfort for our hearts.

Mr. Gu Terei presented Ms. Tong Aiping with the first-place certificate.

After the competition, Professor Sun Shuren shared with the pianists the key to unlocking piano learning, the 'Six Hearts and Ten Senses' method. The conversation was filled with laughter and joy.

The 'Six Hearts' refer to: original intention, confidence, dedication, patience, perseverance, and love. The 'Ten Senses' are: sense of movement, sense of distance, sense of rhythm, sense of melody, sense of layers, sense of contrast, sense of organization, sense of harmony, sense of music, and sense of emotional resonance.

Professor Sun believes that playing the piano requires patience, the ability to endure through practice, and the courage to face challenges. Dedication is the foundation of everything. Only when fully immersed, with an undistracted mind, can one truly understand the essence of music.

Huang Ziyuan, the winner of the 2024 Jiangsu International Piano Master Music Festival Little Pianist Selection and the first-place winner of the International Piano Competition, was invited to perform the classic piece Chopin's First Ballade. Other piano enthusiasts also took the stage to engage in exchange and showcase their performances.

Huang Ziyuan performed a classic masterpiece live on stage.
